The still beautiful emerald green costumes to symbolize written by Barbara Karinska be for Rubiesreplace a red variant. What remains is the simple but effective decor Rev. Schayk of the facets of gems illustrates, supported by the lighting design by Bert Dalhuysen. In Rubies is done with the stylish, perhaps somewhat sluggish of the French school, and it's up to the American school with obvious jazz influences. The - still modern - sounds of the Capriccio for piano and orchestra from 1929 Igor Stravinsky splashing fun from there. Soloists Remi Wörtmeyer, but especially the always excellent Maia Makhateli visibly enjoy their ode to the ruby. The flexibility, thereby expression and gaiety of Makhateli really add something to the execution. For although the choreography not for the faint-hearted , it seems, in this embodiment as easy. While the triptych offers a beautiful and diverse balance, Rubiessneak the highlight of the evening. Despite (or because of?) Music - unlike Fauré and Tchaikovsky - not exactly "easy" to the ear.
